  • Seven Songs on the road to Sudan

As we are gearing up to the US television premiere of Seven Songs for a Long Life, I am caught in an odd no-man’s land, not quite in Jordan, not yet in Khartoum, not in the US, nor in Scotland, but suspended in time because of delayed flights and missed connections.

  • Seoul to Soul

New new new..that’s how South Korea seems to me. Fizzing with energy and young people who are grasping every opportunity that comes their way - to make money, to debate, and especially, to sing! Fab harmonies from the opening night!

  • Bluebells in Devon

It’s my first time in Devon and there are bluebells and primroses and beech trees creating gently swaying cathedral skies…. It’s the perfect environment to launch Dying Matters week, which we did with Seven Songs for a Long Life in Barnstaple. The aim was to find a way to get past our reluctance to talk about our death, and our absolute horror of talking about the death of those we love.

  • Goodbye SxSW - Goodbye Texas!

We met yesterday with Austin’s only not-for-profit in-patient hospice, Christopher House. It’s a gentle, harmonious place with large rooms for patients and families, a garden, a retreat room, a piano and music filling the wide entrance hall. Nurse Mandy Malcomson from Strathcarron and the director, Holly Eades sat down to find out how different life is for hospice patients in the US and the UK.

  • Singalong Austin

This is a first for Seven Songs. With music all around us, and Mandy and Hilary and a guitar right here, how could we resist? For our second screening we decided to take a risk and do a documentary singalong with the audience.

  • Cargo Film & Releasing Aboard

“And the golden sun…will shine on you….” Sinatra Drum roll… We have a Sales Agent - the NY based Cargo Film & Releasing. They work worldwide on films (recent titles such as Bronx Obama and An Honest Liar) and will focus on Cinema, TV, digital & educational and so we hope that our little Scottish film will be flying across the globe complete with subtitles for the Scottish accents. It’s the incredible songs from our amazing cast...
